Her parents were proprietors of Buckley's Bookstore. They bought the Niagara Fall (Canada) bookstore from Wright Buckley, son of the founder, and operated this bookstore for over forty years.
After completing her BA at the University of Western Ontario, Barbara graduated from McGill University as a librarian. Her career took her from the University of Western Ontario in London ON, where she was the librarian at the Ivey School of Business Administration, to Boys' & Girls' House (Toronto ON), the University of Nairobi (Kenya), the UNESCO Regional Library (Enugu, E. In 1986, she obtained a Diploma in Communications (Publishing) from Kwantlen College. Since then, she has been involved in the printing and publishing business as Zebra Page Design, editing, designing and typesetting books, websites, and other print materials.
